Caoimhin's project for the BT young Scientist award this week - His project this year is called 'Joint Righting - An Accurate Electronic Kinematics and Muscle Strength System for Improved Patient Recovery After Joint Surgery'.
Caoimhin is developing a sensor to measure joint movement and muscle strength in patients recovering from joint surgery. He plans on creating a sleeve with sensors that will sit on a recovering joint. The sensors will measure angles, range of motion and force to give the patient and indication of the progress they are making in recovery.
